Have you ever tried to eat a green persimmon? Did it feel like your whole face was puckering inward? Well, that is what I experienced when I tried to eat a mouthful of green gooseberries, and 40-some years later, I still won't go near them!

I never had gooseberry pie until my mother in law made one for us. I was expecting my first baby at the time and was fighting nausea 24/7. When I looked at the green berries falling out of the pie they looked like eyeballs. Yep, I got sick and have NEVER had gooseberries. Now that I'm 72 and not PG maybe I could handle it. Ya think?
